Been reading the rags, and there are various comments about the state of
the Honda MotoGP effort:

- On Stoner's new chassis, RRW says it's a unit previously tried and
rejected by Pedrosa and Melandri. Now Melandri, Elias and Tamada use one
frame, Stoner this new one, and Pedrosa has an even newer one which he
switched to at Assen. That Melandri had tried the one Stoner's using
suggests he's second to Pedrosa in the pecking order for the old bike.
But CN reports this week that Stoner had at Brno a pair of chassis
"identical to the one used by Pedrosa", so the reports as always have to
be taken with a grain of salt.

- Also out of Germany, RRW (Oxley) says Hayden's newest chassis that
he briefly tried at Donington and then tested at Brno is the seventh
chassis he's tried this year. First I've seen that they've had so many
different units, at least during the season, and it seemed from Michael
Scott's comments in his Donington report that Nick had been waiting a
very long time for this one. So I suspect this includes frames tried in
the preseason. CN this week reiterates that Hayden has been asking for
parts all season to solve the corner exit traction problems he's had,
commenting on the highly-publicized frame tested at Brno, and that seems
to indicate that no new chassis parts had been tried previously.

- Hayden's post-Brno race comments included the mention of clutch
problems again, so it appears that long-standing problem continues as
well. Haven't seen anything about a new clutch at the test. Both Hayden
and Pedrosa tried new pipes on Friday at Brno, but both were rejected
for the weekend.

- Lots of talk about his future, and I see that Kawasaki (who haven't
re-signed Nakano yet) have joined Ducati (no confirmation of Gibernau at
Corse for '07 that I've seen) and Yamaha on the list of his suitors. As
of Donington, RRW reported that Hayden's people hadn't yet started
negotiating with Honda yet. Hayden did say there had been no discussion
about testing the '07 800, saying, "Maybe Honda don't want me to try the
bike until they know that I'm with them next year".

- More confirmation that Fortuna will be bailing on Gresini at year
end (although working on personal sponsorship deals with Lorenzo and
Pedrosa - can you image that?), but Honda promises support for the team.
It seems Dorna is loosening the purse strings some to make it easier on
some of the teams, given the shrinking grid and shrinking sponsor pool.
With Gresini, Cecchinello, Pons and Roberts, Honda has plenty of teams
wanting to utilize their equipment, but not really the budget to do so.
Perhaps that makes Tamada more secure than one might guess...

- Regarding other new stuff at Brno, apparently Rossi received engine
changes which made the bike sound different than the other Yamahas,
including Edwards'. A linkage tested by Edwards on Friday was adopted by
Rossi the rest of the weekend, apparently his first notable chassis
change since Le Mans, and Rossi reportedly was to try a new chassis at
the test last week.

The more i read about all these mods. the better rider Rossi [GOD]
impresses me more and more, with how little Yamaha are doing [The real
level of the M1 is where Edwards is]

Here is a guy through natural talent just rides around faulty bike
design, worn tyres, low output and alike, against a unlimited budget
army-like-attack by honda,

I still believe that if Max was around he would have won it this year
[of course only because Rossi has been the unluckiest rider this
season].Max didnt fit in with hrc, the more he had, the worse he got,
would have been better riding in a base team like Stoner.

Perhaps he will be back in 07' [Shock horror on the non-factory Ducati]
