Got a double dose of idiocy on the expressways here in Orlando this
afternoon:

To set the stage, weatherwise, its literally a wall of water that I'm
driving through today as the T-storms are coming in off the Gulf
practically non stop.

Moron No. 1 was driving a White Dodge minivan with MA tags on the 417
Southbound near the Beachline exit with his emergency flashers going
as many are wont to do when its raining hard and visibility is poor.
No problem with that, per se (I've done it a few times myself), but,
IMNSHO, it would have been very heplful if he turned on his
*headlights* (as FL law requires in rain) before resorting to the
flashers....

Moron No. 2 was a red Dodge minivan (are all Dodge minivan drivers
idiots - is it something in the interior treatments?) with IL tags
(any relation, Brent?) on the Beachline headed west just past KMCO,
LLBing when we came upon an accident scene that had the #1 lane
blocked as I was undertaking him in the #2 lane. Naturally, instead of
yielding ROW like he should, he starts moving over to the spot I'm
occupying causing me to have to make an emergency lane change to the
#3 lane. Then he starts drifting over as if to crowd me out of that
lane. It was bad enough having to make the lane change like that in
this weather, then I decided that a little speed was in order to get
away from this twit before he gets me killed, so I floor it and turn
him into a fading spot in my rearview mirror.

This, of course, doesn't include the idiots who for some reason have
to STOP in the Sunpass only lanes or that I see making panic switches
across the gore points when they realize almost too late that they
have to use the cash lanes....

S&DDAM admits to putting others in danger with its beater:

"Foot pumps are a joke. I had one once and since the piston only moves like
2 inches it took 50 pumps to raise the pressure by one psi. Go with the
hand pumps where the piston moves around 15 inches. One of my tires has
exposed cords and i have to pump it up every week. "

Welcome to IL. This is SOP for many drivers here. A week or so
ago I was driving along in the I90/94 reversibles... a large ford
product is way behind me in the left lane gaining. He comes along side
me as the left lane is ending and then starts moving over, right towards
my car. This is an extreme example as there was nothing between us for
about a half mile. He had a half mile to either A) increase speed to
pass me before the lane ended. B) slow somewhat to move over behind me.
He chose C) keep course and speed and then force me out of the way.

same here

1) didn't see what happened, but a conga-line of at least six people all
rear ended each other on I-66 eastbound this AM. I say "at least"
because a) I didn't count and b) the frontmost vehicle had front end
damage. How you get that many people to run into each other
simultanously takes multiple doses of stupid. Of course I was headed
westbound, and still had to slow dramatically as everyone ogled.

2) almost at home, idiot on a Beemer lane splits because the idiot in
front of him didn't put his signal on until the light turned green, and
almost took both of our mirrors off, and scared the yell out of me
because I really wasn't expecting that.

Today wasn't any better. Beltway shut down because of a crash. no
details yet, just heard it on the radio. Was trying to get from a job
site to the office, couldn't get on I-66 because cops had the onramp
blocked, now I know why.
