So for about a year I've been looking into what parrot species I
would like to be owned by next.
My story is, several years ago I was the slave of a very demanding
Quaker parrot, when I met him it was a 'up you'll do now lets go home
and chew your homework up. When Oscar died I took it really hard, he
passed away due to advanced liver disease, nothing could be done, which
was said because he was only from my knowledge then a year and a half,
from talking to the vet, she believed from the seriousness of his
illness he was likely much much older, so I packed up all his things,
and for about 5 years ignored birds all together, spending some quality
time with my dog,
About two years ago I was working part time in a pet store when someone
came in and gave me two very wonderful budgies, and made me promise
they would find a good home... I took them home that day. They were
that spark under my bottom to get me back into the avian scene. So here
I am two years later, the hen passed away from a tumor in her oviduct,
so now all I have is my boi (Bow-EE, not boy) so my boyfriend suggested
I get another (wow), and here I am, I wanted another Quaker, then a BG
macaw then possibly a java hill mynah, what I do is sit down and make
lists (I like em) and write down the good and the bad, and so far the
other three species have been scratched off my list, the BG almost got
through but noise became a factor, that we are now living in a
townhouse. So three days ago I was in the local pet store, because I
was in desperate need of some birdie kibble and I couldn't make it up
to get the good stuff, and I stopped to meet the first jardines I've
ever seen, I've never seen this species before, and I asked for a
step up and I fell in love, boy did I want to bring that baby home.
Since then I have been looking in every nook and cranny of the
internet, book shops, libraries and I can't find many reasons not to
take this species home (I won't be taking pet store jardines home but I
would love to) so I would like to ask anyone who has or is owned by one
of these guys to tell me every possible problem that comes with these
guys, but if it looks the way I think it does now I think I've found
my ideal bird.
Ps don't leave one stinking detail out
